Final League Standings

Congratulations to all Season Winners

The Baby Sharks grew up this season into the Great White Sharks. Holding first all season is pretty impressive ... Great shooting Sharks!
Second place goes to We're Solid Right?
Third to Off the Rails

Top POY player of the year sure was a battle between Richard Breaker & Kevin Buydens to catch Marty. Determination and focus from our one and only Budda managed to finish on top! Congrats Budda!
Congrats to Maryann for holding top lady position all season. Great shooting!

Minutes of Meeting at Chalks March 28th, 2024

Was nice to have the 6 top teams and 2 of the bottom division teams attending meeting.
Bottom 6 team we will meet on Wednesday at Chalks and discuss how to finish season, as we all did in top half.

Meetings were cancelled because mentally I could get it together. Previous week being told everyone hates me, players telling me about who is gossiping and raising stink behind my back. Just couldn't get myself together or words on paper to have a meeting. The thought of being verbally attacked like last meeting brought on the worst anxiety attack ever. All I could think is when is this going to stop?
Called a few captains during my break down and took their advice, cancelled meeting and ended the season. Divided league and called meetings with each division.

Wednesday Top Half Results of meeting.

Mentioned I did not want to take away 1st, 2nd & 3rd place from the winners
Asked players to decide how to finish the league with the weeks we have left.

It was agreed league after league trips, awards & banquet costs.
Final league standings would be paid out with 60% the prize fund.
The 40% left would be divided between top and bottom for playoffs.

Top Half playoffs is a Double Round Robin Format
The next 5 weeks then finishing up the weekend off April 27th & 28th.

Bottom teams we will vote on what you would like to do this Wednesday at Chalks.

Now I need to share with the rest of you what I said: There was a recording done of meeting but hasn't been shared it with me.

Spoke from my heart as I will do now.

Before COVID we were one of the strongest leagues on the Island, hosted some of the best tournaments. The format and rules I laid out to create a fun fair competitive league for all skill levels of play, brought players from all over the Island to play in this league.

When COVID shut the world down, called a meeting at the Avalanche to decide what to do. As a group we decided to pay everyone out and season was over. After handing out the money $11,800. was handed back to me. This was the most love I had ever felt. Seeing how much I was appreciated was the most amazing feeling brought tears of joy to my eyes.

Players new I just lost my whole business overnight and gave from their heart. That money was put in the league account. Many times I was told it was for me but I decided it was for CVPL when needed.

When the world reopened some venues choose not to reopen. I rounded up 16 teams but had only 4 tables in Chalk and 1 in Kelly's, we needed more tables. Went to the Elks and we came to agreement and I put two tables in there for free. The second year they wanted two more pool tables because they saw the revenue we were bringing in. So I brought in two more pool tables to use for free to help the Elks and the league grow. Unfortunately the more I gave, my kindness was being taking advantage of and was constantly being bullied with altomadems.

COVID affected everybody in a very negative way. Dealing with my PTSD has been very tough on me this year and yes I've made mistakes. I admitted to every mistake along the way, learn, grow and move on from it. That's life!

There has been a lot of animosity towards me because I had to let Deb go from working in the office with me. That was the hardest thing I ever had to do but it had to be done. I do miss losing a friend but I do not regret letting her go.
I do regret and apologies for reacting how I did when the Elks bullied me for the last time.
All this could have been avoided if people would just sit down and talk things out. I've always given everyone a chance to come back in this league. We all make mistakes acknowledging them, learning from them is a part of growing.

Why stir up drama?
Why judge people?
Why complain when someone makes a mistake?
Why gossip negatively?

Good Sportsmanship was number one pre COVID.

Players look forward to coming out to a fun, fair, competitive night of entertainment and organized league play.

It's my responsibility to delivery this.

Those that continue to disrupt this league, have two choices.

Learn from your mistake, choose kindness instead of negativity and become a positive member of the CVPL.

If you don't like me or want to continue to complain how I run my business, please remove yourself from this league.

Being a member of the Comox Valley Pool league is not a right .... it's a privilege.

Bad Sportsmanship, bullying or telling me to #$%^ off, will not be tolerated anymore!

Being a member of the CVPL is about bringing people together ... not tearing them apart.

Looking forward to finishing the season playing great pool with positive fun people, creating good memories to last a lifetime.

Wishing you all a Happy Easter
Sending much Love & Light to you all!
Rose
