Week #16

Get ready for the longest news letter I've ever had to write. Please do take the time and read the whole thing.

As always, first I will congratulate all the players with stats. Great job Adam two weeks in a row first game out gets a ERO. Dominick Grenier and Jason Rushton each had two ERO's and Mike Gard and Serge Senchar. got one ERO. Gordon Walls had two First Attempts, Gary Adams, Tom Lambourne, Don Randell and Werner Ostwald each had one. John Salas, Darcy Marklund and Steve Scheller, Werner Ostwald, Phil Asturi and Ted Willougby all got a ZIP. Great shooting!

I would like everyone to click on this link below or copy and past and read about Good Sportsmanship I will not tolerate rude conduct to players, myself or venue host. There is no need for it and I do believe someone out there needs to apologies to Jamie before the next night of league play.

When dropping envelopes please make sure they go all the way into the slot and drop. Have found many just sitting in there stuck.

There been a bit of confussion on how to hit a frozen ball and push shotIf you go to the CCS web page or check your rule book you will find this below.

6.7 Double Hit / Frozen Balls

If the cue stick contacts the cue ball more than once on a shot, the shot is a foul. If the cue ball is close to but not touching an object ball and the cue tip is still on the cue ball when the cue ball contacts that object ball, the shot is a foul. If the cue ball is very close to an object ball, and the shooter barely grazes that object ball on the shot, the shot is assumed not to violate the first paragraph of this rule, even though the tip is arguably still on the cue ball when ball-ball contact is made.
However, if the cue ball is touching an object ball at the start of the shot, it is legal to shoot towards or partly into that ball (provided it is a legal target within the rules of the game) and if the object ball is moved by such a shot, it is considered to have been contacted by the cue ball. (Even though it may be legal to shoot towards such a touching or “frozen” ball, care must be taken not to violate the rules in the first paragraph if there are additional balls close by.) The cue ball is assumed not to be touching any ball unless it is declared touching by the referee or opponent. It is the shooter’s responsibility to get the declaration before the shot. Playing away from a frozen ball does not constitute having hit that ball unless specified in the rules of the game.

6.8 Push Shot

It is a foul to prolong tip-to-cue-ball contact beyond that seen in normal shots.

Late week to qualify for Penticton is Feb 1st

Correction in team hand book

For 9 years nothing has changed, we always run 28 weeks and playoffs are always the first or second weekend of April. I wish I could tell you now but it depends on when UFC is scheduled at the Avalanche. The UFC schedule is posted up to the end of March, they should post April soon.

In hand book it says last week of league play is March 28, that is wrong. When I counted weeks I included Nov 9 which we didn't play because of Nanaimo tourney. Last night of league play is April 5.

Schedule for Saturday tournaments at the Avalanche as follows It was suggested to change the last Saturday of the month tourney to a $22 entry, since all the A players come out and want a bigger prize pot.

Than make the second Saturday of the month tourney no A players $12 entry, this may get more of the C & B players out.

The Saturdays in between will be 9 Ball.

Tomorrows event will be open to all skill levels of play. Looking to hear your feed back on this idea.

Hope to see a good turnout tomorrow C.A.P. Billiards is going to through in some prizes.
Rose
