| | Competitions was tough but CVPL players brought home Gold, Silver & Bronze in many brackets
This year was a record increase of teams and players for the event. Which created long days, overlapping matches which made it tough on players as well as the organizers Subrina & Gord Monteith and tournament director Shannon Benson. Next year they have decide to add an extra day to to solve these concerns which will make it better for all.
The first day of event started on Wednesday with Scotch Doubles A Division with 12 teams & B Division with 16 teams and 9 Ball Singles with 72 players. 9 Ball was the biggest field to date and brought out the best players which created a very competitive bracket.
Scotch Doubles A Division - Ted Harms & Deb Williams tied 5th-6th and 5th-8th in Second Chance
Scotch Doubles B Division - Stacy Wallington & myself Rose Kantor finished 1st, going undefeated up the A side and losing only 3 games and winning $550. Brain Ferguson & Danita Daigle tied for 5th & 6th winning entry into next years event. Brad Haydu & Tracy Cross 9th-12th and 5th-8th in Second Chance
9 Ball Singles Werner Ostwald 25th-32nd and 17th-32ne in second chance, Gary Adams 25th-32nd, Rob Wright 33rd-48th Gary Adams & Rob Wright both finished 33rd-64th in second chance
Day two and three was singles in all brackets Womens A Division Final had 12 competitors, Women's B Division Final 16. Men's A Division Final 34 competitors, Men's B Division Qualifier 36, B Division Final 35. C Division Qualifier 125 competitors and C Division Final 83.
Women's Singles A Division Final Deb Williams 9th-12th
Women's Singles B Qualifier Rose Kantor 9th-16, Tracy Cross 17th-32nd
Women's Singles B Division Final myself Rose Kantor took 2nd winning $400, losing on the hill 5-4 at 315am to Frances Jensen from Calgary, Tracy Cross 7th-8th
Men's A Division Final Werner Ostwald 13th-16th
Men's B Division Qualifier Werner Ostwald 2nd winning $125 and moved up to A Division, Rob Wright 9th-16th, Stacy Wallington 17th-32nd, Gary Adams 33rd-64th
Mens' B Division Finals Gary Adams 13th-16th, Rob Wright & Stacy Wallington 17th-24th
Men's C Division Qualifier Richard Breukers 17th-32nd, Jason Rushton 33rd-64th, James Lalonde 65th-125th
Men's C Division Final Richard Breukers 13th-16th $100, James LaLonde 25th-32nd, Jason Rushton 65th-96th
Teams were started on Friday for ladies and Saturday and Sunday Mixed all Division. There was 10 ladies team that played a Round Robin Format based on games won.
In A, B & C Division all raced to 13. A Division had 10 teams, CVPL had no representation in this division. B Division Qualifier had 19 and 21 in Finals. C Division Qualifier had 24 and 20 in the finals. C qualifying bracket sent 4 teams up to the B Division and B Qualifying sent up 3 to the A Division.
Women TeamsIce Breakers finished 6th and Danita got picked up by The Banana Peppers from Penticton finishing 10th
Mixed B Division the Avalanche Crew who lost their first match, then stomped up the B side to play in the finals and lost to Made From Scratch from Mission 13-8 taking 2nd and winning $850
Mixed C Division Breaking Bad went undefeated up the A side and then got beat twice with a score of 13-8 both matches and took 2nd winning $700. Danits also played for the Steve Portelance team from Calgary and finished 3rd winning $700
13-8 seemed to be bad number for our men teams. Congratulations to all that went and conquered, once again we showed the CVPL has some great shooters to watch out for!
It was 5 very long days of competition and I'm sure we all got a minimum amount of sleep each night. I hope all found time to catch up on some rest today as I did. Tomorrow back to the grind and Deb will have stats out sometime tomorrow.
