What a great turnout for our league banquet! We rocked the night away with Machine Gun Kelly, what a great entertainer she is. Plays a great variety of music that kept the dance floor hopping. I don't know about all you but I sure couldn't walk right for a few days. Note to self...your 50 not 20 anymore ;) Than Deb Williams got up and did a song by Patsy Cline and she nailed it. Sounds like Kelly was a little concern for her job ;) ;) Thanks Ben for cooking up such a huge feast fit for a king, everything was delicious and most of all we didn't run out!

It was a lot more work having the banquet at a hall where we had to set things up as well as clean up. Big thank you to Deb Williams, Darlene Mercer, Steve Tasko, Don Randell, Heather Cooper, Fergie, Dominik Greiner, Darcy Marklund, Donna May, Kevin Ostashek his wife Christine and son Cooper who donated their time to help make this party a success. Our league photographer Peter Hsu out did his self again with another great video you can check out on Facebook. We are greatful of the talent you bring to this league...Thank you! I hope I'm not missing anyone but thank you everyone who did jump in and lent a hand at the end of the night :)

Speed Pool was fun to watch as well, the table was going all night. Fastest ladies time was led by Deb Williams with 1:33 and Dominick Greiner with 1:11 they each received $50 sponsored by C.A.P. BIlliards LTD.

Thanks to all the players that brought in prizes for our raffle, we raised $690 for the Island Team Challenge that I will host here in Courtenay on June 6th & 7th. I have enough players on a list for two teams but wont know if we can enter two teams until May 15th. I have 8 teams registered to date and we have room for 10 if we end up with 9 than CVPL can enter two teams. If we can only enter one team I will get everyone together Saturday April 16th and we will figure a way to decide who gets to play in tourney.

I'm not sure who dropped prizes off on table or where all the prizes came from. I'm sure there is some sponsors I have not thanked yet. If you're one of them please send me info so I can.

Last Saturday of the month tourney at the Avalanche was moved to this Saturday May 2nd because of banquet tables open at noon, starts at 1pm, $10 entry, $2 green fees. Bar adds a $100 to the pot!

Tuesday 9 Ball at Chalk Lounge there was 10 players out and the pot did not go. Next week $192 with 3 draws.
1st Dominick Greiner $40
2nd Ron Douglas $40
3rd Shane Robinson $20
Dom and Ron agreed to split, Dominick finished top of A side and Ron top of B side

Drop In Summer Singles League starts May 6th at the Avalanche and runs for 12 weeks. It's $5 a night and a one time $10 registration fee. It's always a lot of fun and a great way to meet new people and form teams for next year.

The 2015-2016 Winter session of pool team rosters are already coming in. I have 3 A division and 4 B division registered playing out of the Avalanche and 1 B division team out of Chalk. First teams in get their choice of home venue. To register your team go to our web site comox.pplms.ca click on HOW TO JOIN on the top bar and file in the info than hit submite.

I'm getting a little feedback from players on format that was voted in for our 2015- 2016 season. It seems a lot of players don't want the league to change or divide into two division. The league is continually growing each year and we may have a shortage of tables for next season. The choice was to go to two nights a week with an A division and an B division but all teams wanted to play on Wednesday. So we decided to change format to 5 on 5 for A side and 4 on 4 for B side and each have their own stats and prize fund.

These are the question and comments I keep hearing:

#1 - If we have enough tables can league stay as is? My answer to this was "the teams will form based on what was voted in at last meeting."

#2 - Way can't the A division move to Tuesday or Thursday and the B division stay on Wednesday? We did not take a vote in meeting if the A division would move to Tuesday or Thursday. Everyone at meeting just seemed they all wanted to play on Wednesday but as the rosters come in I can ask and bring up at next meeting in September.

#3 - Comment made; Splitting the league has made a shortage of B players for the A Division teams because now the B players are going to where they have a chance to win more money. If we played on two different nights some B players would play both nights and no more shortage of players.

These are all good questions and concerns that I feel I can't address right now because they are all what if's based on how many teams we get. If we don't get enough teams back because of the change or there is enough tables to go around, than we can and will address this at our first registration meeting in September.

I understand change can be hard but it can also be good. Remember I will always look out for the best interest of the league as a whole.

Fergie and Danita are having their Friday night pool tourney give them a call to find out more info. 250 871-5666

Cheers
Rose
