Awards Banquet is my favorite time of the year, when we all can get together and celebrate another successful year gone by. The food was very good, entertainment from Machine Gun Kelly was prefect for us to dance the night away. There was so many people to talk with and I sure did try to make my rounds but I know I missed a few of you that had to leave early. It's always nice to meet so many players other half, we sure have grown into one big family over the years. I believe it's all the kind hearts in this league that group together and help out the next person is what brought us all together. And maybe because we all love this crazy game called pool :)

Vancouver Island Team Challenge fund raiser was a great success! Thank you to all the teams that dropped prizes off on the table. I don't even know who brought what but we sure had a lot. We raised $570 from the banquet raffle and $1000 from the 2 cue raffles, minus $50 for the cue raffle girls. That give us $1520 to cover cost of trip to Victoria for the Island Team Challenge June 7 & 8. We raised enough this year that we can even get team shirts! If there is any money left it can go towards buying prizes for the summer league playoffs. Thanks again for all your support! The Thursday night league in Campbell River which is grouped together with our league for CCS is still looking for a few more players for the Islands, if your interested please give me a call a.s.a.p.

YANA we presented them with a cheque for $2010 and this was only possible because of all your support with the 50/50 draws all year long. Big hugs to Conway Pauls for adding the extra cash to get us over our $2000 goal....thank you so much!

The Champions of the year I would say are A-Rack-No-Phobia Alison said it best, " you beat them and make them like you well you do it." Well done I say, winning first in the A Division and the Good Sportsmanship Award sure does make you champions!

Summer Singles League at the Avalanche starts this Wednesday May 7th at the Avalanche tables open at 6pm starts at 7pm $5 a night and a one time $10 registration summer league fee. This will be the same format as previous years and you will need 6 weeks in to qualify for playoffs on July 30.

Summer 8 Ball Double Knockout Tournament at Chalk Lounge starts Wednesday May 14, $10 a night $2 green fee and Jason Rushton will be your tournament director. It will run for 12 weeks and the top 2 winners each night will win a spot in the playoffs on August 6th. Every Wednesday night 70% of the intake will get paid out and 30% of the intake will go towards playoffs on August 6th. This gives players the choice of two events every Wednesday night as well as two playoffs to compete in over the summer.

Winter League Team Registration will only be excepted by registering on line at comox.pplms.ca. I have 10 teams that have registered to guarantee their home bar of choice.

New Cloth on all tables the first week of September. All tables will be the same cloth, sorry no more Simonis cloth at Chalk. The lounge is very busy on weekends and the amount of spills on that cloth is to hard to keep clean.

Peter Hsu our league photographer did a excellent job taking pictures as well as making a video that will be posted soon on our Facebook page and YouTube. If you haven't joined the Comox Valley Pool League on Facebook please do. There's a lot of pool info as well as pictures from banquet and past events.

Last Saturday of the month tournament at the Avalanche was cancelled last month due to being the day after the banquet:) Mark on your calenders next tournament at Avalanche Saturday May 31st.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend !!
Rose
