What an exciting 5 days of competition we had at the 1st annual CCS V.I. Championships 2013 held at the Vancouver Island Conference Center. For those that haven't heard yet we have some champs in our league!

The Avalanche Crew with Alwyn Bishop, Bernie Canton, Jason Rushton, Rob Horton & Wayne Stewart really played some excellent pool this weekend. They fought their way up to win the A side in the B Division and it wasn't easy, a few matches they were down and and came back to win the match. The finals were with La Famillia from New Westminster and once again the match went to the hill and Alwyn played a great game and made a excellent shot on the 8 Ball to win the match and become the B Divisions Champions!!

We put in a last minute 9 Ball team The 3 Musketeers with Clay Gloslee from Powell River, Dave Blinsky & Terry Iriye and they should be proud taking 2nd place.

The ladies team Ice Breakers Deb Williams, Gloris Lloyd Jones. Tracy Cross and me took third and the North Island Eaglettes with Christine Hansen, Linda Pauls,Tkachyk, Lori, Matthews, Lorna finished fourth and won entry into next years event.

The Men's Singles events it was most unfortunate but a few players slept in and missed their match and but still placed were they won entry into next years event. They know who they are and might tell you :)

The ladies singles event I was the B side winner and Kathy MacDonald the A side winner, I beat her the first match 5-2 but she came back the second match and got me 7-1 and the one game I got out of her was cause she scratch on the 8. She's ranked a A player and I a B player so my race was to 5 and hers to 7. I'm happy with second and excited to be bumped up to a A player next year. Know it means I must find time to practice.

I don't have all the charts here and I'm going from memory, so I hope I'm not forgetting anyone's success at this event and if I have please let me know.

To put on the CCS Vancouver Island Championships was a lot of work, days before during and days to follow. All of this I couldn't have accomplished with out the support I had from a great team of people that I would love to to thank.

I had 4 dedicated refs that took the time and training for this event Brian Ferguson, Robert Horton, Deb Williams & Conway Pauls.

The crew that brought the tables in and set up was Brain Ferguson, Mel Kantor, Frank Zitelmann & Wes Edwards. Than a few extra hands showed up to help that evening ...Richard Smith, Rob Horton, Larry Abernethy & Deb Williams for being my right hand when needed and the best ball washer in town

The tare down went very fast with all the extra help from all that jumped in to lend a hand to get tables ready for load out the next day. We hand tables flipped and legs off and the place packed up in less than an hour...was I ever impressed with all the help!

Wes Edwards, Brian Ferguson, Rob Horton, Frank Zitelmann, Jason Rushton & Jen Waller who really rocked that drill! I can't thank you all enough for all the help and once things slow down for me I would like us all to get together for dinner...on me!

Most of all the mental support I had from my man Wes Edwards that never let me give up when times were tough...love you the most!

So looking forward to next years event, I already got plans in the making.
