Week 6 Stats

If there is any players out there that were not playing last night and did not get a chance to read the agenda.
Please send me an email and I`ll get it out to you.

The meeting next Wednesday at the Avalanche is at 6pm all players are welcome but only one vote per team. If the meeting does take a bit longer than match time once again will be extended to 7:30pm start.

It seems the big decision for all teams is how to decide who wins the trip to Penticton.
In the past it has been the top 5 men and top 4 ladies win trip. This decision over the last two years was voted in by each team in attendance at the meeting.

Here are a few comets and question that came up last night that should be brought to your attention before the meeting.

Comment: Sending the top men`s team and the top ladies team in POY points gives every player something to shoot for and if a player can`t make it it goes to the next player in line. This also stops players from sand bagging, why change something that works.

Comment: Why have a singles tournament to see who goes when you play all year to prove yourself and you could loose your trip because your having a bad day in the tournament and someone way down in the standings wins the trip.

Comment: Why not send more teams top lady team, top men`s and then remove those players from playoffs and have a tournament to send a third team.

Answer: This is possible and CCS always wants more team entries, but then this will change the amount of year end payouts. If we keep raising extra funds this may not be by very much.

Question: We should send best men`s and ladies team to represent the league because no one else would have a chance down there.

Answer: I wouldn`t say that, last season they cancelled the ladies division and our ladies team had to play in the men`s C bracket and we finished 9th & 10th position.

Question: How about sending the top 10 players and forming 2 of our best teams.

Answer: CCS is still promoting a ladies division and ask all leagues to support them and send a ladies teams. We have 17 ladies that pay a total of about $4700 in to the prize fund, that's a third of the total amount. Sending a five man team and a 4 women team gives both something to set goals for to win during the season. As well I believe the ladies should have a chance to win a trip just as much as the men. And the odds of any of our ladies finishing in the top 10 is against them.

There are some good comments brought to the table hope this helps you all to make a decision.

This Sunday is the 8 Ball Classic in Port Alberni doors open at 10am starts at 11am $45 entry for men and $35 for ladies.

The Bridge will host 9 Ball every Tuesday starts November 1st at 7pm doors open at 6pm $5 entry $2 green fee.

A pink pocket chalker was found at the Avalanche.

Good Luck, Good Shooting and most of all Good Sportsmanship!
Rose
