Results from the 2010/2011 Comox Valley Pool League Championships

Comox Valley Pool League 2010-2011 Championships wrapped up April 2 & 3 followed by a
wonderful dinner sponsored by the Avalanche. This season players paid into the league $13,440
and with addition sponsorship total prize fund was over $15,800 which was distributed by sending
two teams to Penticton to the CCS Championships and prizes right to last place!

The format for playoffs was voted in by all teams at last meeting and the final vote was 11 - 1 in favor of
Round Robin with scoresheets sealed untill after last match.
A side played for wins and B side played handicapped and overall points.
This worked out most excullent for all teams and allowed each player to focus on their game not the teams score.

Twelve four player teams competed for two days with each team playing eighty games each.
The final scores in the A Division couldn’t have been any closer for the top three spots.
The A side was based on the most games won with I Cue U finishing in sixth place with 27 wins,
Choc”O”Lot in fifth place with 28 wins, Classics in fourth place with 41 wins,
Chalked & Loaded in third place with 47 wins, Screwballs in second place with 48 wins and the
new A Division Champions this year is the Chalk-A-Holics with 49 wins!

The B Division was handicapped based on over all points and the two teams from Sunnydale Club House
brought their A game and took home the majority of the trophies in the playoffs.
Finishing in sixth place Cue-Tease with 579 points, Sharks Not finishing in fifth spot 617,
Eh Shooters in fourth spot with 635 points, The Mex Hookers finishing in third place with 638 points,
Sunnydale Sliders finishing in second place with 677 points and the
B Division Champions are Odds R from Sunnydale Club House.

Every night of league play each team gives their opponents a Good Sportsmanship rating from 1-10
and the team at the end of the season the team with the highest score win the Good Sportsmanship Award.
This year the team with the highest score was Odds R. Player of the year was Kevin Kane from
Chalked & Loaded, Top Lady was Rose Kantor from Chalk-A-Holics, Most Consecutive Wins went to
Mike Gould from Classics with 16, Most Improved player went to Shane Robinson from Sunnydale Slidders

With special thanks to all our sponsors and Christie Tipper we raised $1005!
Our budget for trophies was $400 but final cost was $553.90.
That leaves us with $851.10 to send seven men and three women to Port Alberni
to compete in the Island Challenge Tournament June 4th & 5th!
This will cover our $250 team entry and cost of five rooms for one night.
If you’re interested in representing your league give me a call to register.

We finished the evening up with some great music with an acoustic jam with Frank Zitelmann and Bill Blackwell.
Thank you to all of you that just hoped in and started to help clean up after the banquet.
The staff and I really appreciated it.

For the month of April the Avalanche is adding $100 to every Saturday Tournament will start at noon each day.
Also every Sunday is now FREE pool at the Ave!

All I can say is if you’ve enjoyed what I’ve done with the league so far,
all skill level of players will be even happier next season!
